God of War Ragnarok Games, Setting, Premise & Platforms! Action-adventure video God of War Ragnarok Games was created by Santa Monica Studio and released by Sony’s Interactive Entertainment. It was the first cross-gen release in the series, arriving on November 9, 2022, again for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is the follow-up to God of War from 2018 and the ninth entry in the God of War series both historically and chronologically.
The game, which is apparently based on Norse mythology, is set in historical Scandinavia and stars Kratos, the main character of the series, and his adolescent son Atreus. The game concludes the Norse era of the series and deals with Ragnarök, the great apocalyptic catastrophe in Norse mythology that was prophesized to occur in the previous match when Kratos murdered the “sir.”God of War Ragnarok Games Mode, Setting, Premise & Platforms.
The COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on game production and Kratos actor Christopher Judge’s health issues in August 2019 contributed to the game’s postponement from its original 2021 release date. Prior to its delay, it received accolades at the 2020 Golden Joystick Awards and PlayStation.Blog awards for Most Wanted Game and Most Awaited Game, respectively, and was recognized as one of many gaming journalists’ and websites’ most anticipated titles. The reviews of Ragnarök were universally positive.
God of War Ragnarok Game Setting
Ragnarök, like the 2018 sequel, is based in the Norse mythology universe but builds on its story with an even stronger emphasis on exploration & open-world gameplay. God of War Ragnarok Games’ expanded focus allows the player to explore all nine of the Norse mythology’s realms, such as the latest signings of Svartalfheim, the industrial home of the Dwarves; Vanaheim, the lush home of Vanir gods; and Asgard, the golden land of the sir gods. God of War (2018) only allowed the player to connect six of the nine realms. Midgard, the main setting of the 2018 sequel, is prominently depicted but has been drastically altered by Fimbulwinter, a three-year winter that started after the conclusion of the last game. It is now a frozen wasteland.
Previously boat-navigable in the prior game, the Lake of the Nine is now completely frozen over. The exploration of Svartalfheim is comparable to that of Midgard in the previous game. Helheim, Niflheim, and Alfheim all reappeared with a more in-depth focus on the characters.
